Hyped: Justice League, Spiderman Homecoming, Batgirl, Avengers Infinity War, Efron as Venom?!

Welcome to this month’s #Hyped, where we talk Justice League, Spiderman Homecoming, GOTGvol2, Avengers Infinity War Capt America News, Batgirl, Nightwing added to the DCEU + Zac Efron today reported as Venom?!

All with added links and trailers for your viewing entertainment!

Let’s get #Hyped….

Justice League Trailer

We finally got a glimpse of the first official Justice League movie, out this November, and I for one, am now well and truly hyped.

The trailer predominantly introduces our team as they #UniteTheLeague, with Aquaman & Cyborg getting their fair share of exposure in the clip, along with the rest of the team Batman, Wonder Woman and The Flash.

We also get a peek at some of the team dynamics with the showing of Barry Allen (Ezra Miller), asking the caped crusader (Ben Affleck) “Exactly what are your super powers again?” As well as a moment where Aquaman sarcastically knocks Bruce Wayne’s Batsuit, in front of Commissioner Gordon. Coincidently that scene also gives us our first look at J.K Simmons in his new role.

Among the humour we also get a fat dose of battle sequences including the sight of The Batman getting trigger happy in his new kitted Batmobile as well shots of all our protagonists, kicking some Para Demon arse!

With WonderWoman due for release this summer and confirmation this month that a NightWing movie will be joining the roster of DC films, to be released along with the Gotham City Sirens, The Batman Movie, AquaMan + The Flash solo films, the DCEU is really starting to take shape.

The movie looks epic and I truly think this will deliver.

Spiderman Homecoming

A new Spiderman Homecoming trailer dropped last week – with some cool promo posters dropping just a day or so before.

The trailer gave us a huge insight into how the film is going to pan out with what seemed to be, the majority of Robert Downey Jr’s screen time as Tony Stark aka Iron Man. The trailer goes on to show us the awesome new gadgets the new ‘Iron’ suit has including some funky ‘Mini Spider’ Gadgets. The trailer for me was great as expected – but I just felt it gave too much plot and story arc away for me, especially with the telling of losing the suit and his (what seem’s), final battle with the Vulture (Michael Keaton), minus aforementioned suit.

I just hope Marvel kept something back – if so, this film will be nothing short of epic.

As for the posters, in my opinion there the coolest Spiderman posters EVER! The teaser pictures have our web slinger in view both on and alongside the Avengers tower as well as a Brooklyn Road sign!

Personally, I think they look excellent and yes… They are getting me hyped for what I, personally believe, will be the best portrayal of Peter Parker yet from Tom Holland.

With Guardians of The Galaxy Volume  2 release date drawing ever nearer (end of April / Early May) – Marvel Studio’s also released a shed load of colourful and flamboyant images including character posters (see below) as well a brand new TV spot.

Director James Gunn has now given fans more than enough trailers and TV spots to get us well and truly hyped for this sequel. All in all – it looks epic!

Along with Kurt Russell’s reveal in the last trailer we have also been told Sly Stallone’s character – also plays a pivotal role in the GOTG storyline. Rumour has it (Spoiler alert), he plays Captain Nova’s father!!!!!

Deadpool 2

Deadpool 2 released a teaser prior Logan to get us hyped for next year’s movie. The trailer was full of EASTER eggs re: Superman and Nathan Summers as well as Wolverine.

If you were not already aware, Star Ryan Reynolds dropped the fact Zazie Beetz will play female assassin Domino in the Fox/ Marvel sequel – her mutant ability allows her to manipulate probability in her favour! Other characters already confirmed will be Cable along with the return of Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Colossus (Stefan Kapicic) and taxi driver Dopinder (Karan Soni).

Writer Matt Reeves has also revealed other characters from the Deadpool comics will also star in the sequel! So watch this space for further confirmations.

The big one though is ‘who will play time travelling hero Nathan Summers aka Cable (the son of the XMEN’s Cyclops & Jean Grey!).. Michael Shannon (General Zod in Superman Man of Steel) and David Harbour (Stranger Things) are the lead runners. An announcement is due soon.

Thor – best Marvel Studio trailer yet!

If you follow me on Twitter (@JabberManUK) – you’ll have noticed I plugged a quote from GOTG director James Gunn, who replied to a follower stating he had already seen the upcoming Thor Ragnarok trailer and that it is possibly “the best Marvel Studios trailer yet”!

New  pictures were also released last month in Entertainment, as discussed in #TNGNShow Ep.5 Entertainment Edition podcast.

That’s some statement from JG, considering all previous trailers from Marvel, are normally nothing short of epic! This is definitely one of my top 3 films – I can’t wait to see this year!

We can only hope that the Thor trailer will drop in time for GOTGVol2.

Avengers Infinity War

Filming is already underway for next year’s highly anticipated Avengers Infinity War. After a recent interview with Esquire, rumours surfaced that the Infinity War movies may be Chris Evans last appearance as Steve Rogers aka Captain America!

Bucky aka the Winter Soldier was immediately rumoured to be taking over the shield!

Would this be a good move? Or should Marvel follow the comic arc, where Falcon takes over the mantle? Let us know in your comments below!

As mentioned Nightwing aka Dick Grayson aka Robin, is getting his own solo film with Lego Batman director Chris McKay on board! It’s great news that DC are bringing this story arc and character into the DCEU as this not only opens up the Nightwing story into the movie franchise of the comics but also further heightens the inclusion of the ‘Death in the Family’ storyline and the potential to cast The Red Hood. I’m #Hyped!

Batgirl – Whedon joins DCEU

Former Marvel writer and director Joss Whedon has jumped ship to join Warner Bros to bring Batgirl to the big screen. Having written and directed both Avengers movies, this is a big capture for WB.

According to Dave McNary at Variety, who last week broke the news, he stated:

“The movie project will be based on the Batgirl story that was first unveiled in DC Comics in 1967, when Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon, appeared as the character in “The Million Dollar Debut of Batgirl!” by writer Gardner Fox and artist Carmine Infantino”.

It would seem the DCEU really is starting to take shape. I cannot wait to see how Warner Bros take on these Comic movies will rival Marvel Studios MCU.

And finally Sony announced that Spiderman villain Venom, will get his own solo film.

Only today it was announced Zac Efron has been cast for the lead role of Eddie Brock! However, this may be an April Fool after all?

According to Screenrant.com:
“News of Efron’s involvement broke via a tweet from the actors account…The tweet has since been deleted, likely because Sony has yet to make an official announcement.” http://screenrant.com/venom-movie-zac-efron-eddie-brock-mcu/

Efron or not (TBC), this is a brave move by Sony taking this approach with the popular Spiderman villain. With them now sharing the Spiderman franchise with Marvel Studios, it has the potential to be a more dark, violent, R Rated film, to follow on from the success of both Deadpool and last month’s incredible Logan movie – for which you can read my ‘spoiler free review’ here @ https://nogimmicknetwork.wordpress.com/2017/03/13/spoiler-free-film-review-logan/
