With so many potentially great films coming our way this 2017, I give my Top 10 count down on the upcoming movies that are getting me #Hyped this calendar year.

10: Valerian & the City of a Thousand Planets

Valerian & Laureline are special operatives for the government of the human territories charged with maintaining order throughout the universe. Based on the popular original French comicbooks. Potential to be the ‘next Star Wars’ saga according to reports- big statement.

Release Date: 21 July 2017 (USA)

9: Wonder Woman

The daughter of Zeus, raised on the mythical island of Themyscira, trained by Amazonian warriors. A young woman named Diana; fulfils a destiny long ago bestowed on her by the Gods!

After her impressive debut in BVS, Gadot returns in her first solo outing as Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman. Expect back story alongside our protagonist battling alongside Pine in WWI battling Nazi’s.

I know who my monies on! Game on!

8: Kong Skull Island

This star studded prequel looks impressive.

A team of explorers are brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island – unaware it’s the domain of the mythic Kong!

Featuring big hitting actors alongside beasts of gigantic proportions, this action packed movie looks worthy of sending us all into an ape like frenzy for it!

Starring: Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L Jackson, John Goodman, Brie Larson

Release Date: 9 March 2017 (Germany)


Hard to not include both so I did!

T2 is the TrainSpotting sequel with most of the original cast, released in conjunction with the 20 year anniversary of the original. A hard act to follow but you can’t help but think Boyle would only attempt such a feat unless this sequel is a fitting one. Makes for an intriguing & exciting prospect.

Dunkirk is based on the miraculous evacuation of Allied soldiers from Belgium, France & Britain, who were cut off & surrounded by the German army from the beaches & harbour of Dunkirk, France 1940 during WWI.

Starring: Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphey, Harry Styles

Release Dates: 21 July 2017 (USA)

6: GOTGvol2 

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage.

This next volume looks even bigger and better than the first with a host of characters including the team (Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket & Baby Groot) rejoining Yondu, Nebula alongside Ego the Living Planet (Russell) up against villians Taserface, Kismet, Kraglin, Irani Rael (Close) among a horde more intergalactic alien species I’m sure – The Kree? Oh and Sly Stallone also stars!

In a nutshell: Epic and we can’t wait!

Release Date: 25 April 2017 (Italy)

  1. Thor Ragnorak

Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor’s quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela (Cate Blanchett) from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization. Directed by the impressive Taiki Wakiki and influenced by The Planet Hulk comic.

  1. SpiderMan Homecoming

After his introduction in CIVAL War, Tom Holland returns as your friendly neighbourhood SpiderMan in the third rendition of the film.

This latest instalment looks epic with villains Shocker, The Vulture (Michael Keaton), the Tinkerer (Michael Chernus) all confirmed with Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/ Iron Man starring to mentor and fight alongside the young web-slinger, as he learns the ‘ropes’ of being a young super hero!

With Marvel working alongside Sony for the first time in the movie franchise, this has the potential to surely be the best SpiderMan movie yet? Be interesting to see how the movie sets itself also, up for the next Spidey movie (will we see any potential future Green Goblin, MJ, Venom?)  and the upcoming Avengers Infinity War.

  1. Logan

Hugh Jackman dons the claws for one final outing as Wolverine. Based on the classic ‘Old Man Logan’ comicbook this movie sees the original and best member of Marvels XMEN live in a world where mutants no longer exist – or at least are welcome. Patrick Stewart also reappears as Charles Xavier and X23 gets introduced into the franchise. Dr Sinister is also rumoured to make an appearance and there’s also talk of Deadpool featuring! But only in the end credit scenes! If you didn’t know already – due to the huge global success of Deadpool, Logan is also going to be a no holds barred ‘R-rated’ movie!

Release Date: 2 March 2017 (Germany)

  1. Justice League

SuperMan’s died & Steppenwolf & Darksied’s Terror Demons attack the planet whilst Lex Luther will also play some part in the world’s destruction. Time for Batman to assemble a kick ass team of Meta- Humans to save earth using the contacts gathered from post Suicide Squad end scene. The Dark Knight gets Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg & Aquaman on side to defend the planet. Can the Justice League save the day? Will SuperMan re spawn to aid our heroes? Will Lex get the power he so craves? Will we see Darkseid? Bring it on!

Director: Zack Snyder

Starring: Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, George Ezra, Jason Mamoa, Henry Cavill

Release Date: 16 November 2017 (Denmark)

  1. Star Wars Episode VIII

The next instalment of everyone’s favourite galaxy far-far away.

Last time out Rey, Finn & Poe faced the re-established Empire led by the evil Snoke & Kylo Ren. Rey discovered she possessed Jedi abilities and faced Kylo Ren for the first time, who himself delved deeper to the dark side and his obsession with Grandpa Vader by killing his own father, Han Solo. The film finished with Rey meeting Jedi master in hiding, Luke Skywalker. How this next instalment Unravels – the world awaits!

Director: Rian Johnson

Starring: Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver

Release Date: 15 December 2017 (USA)
